With over twenty years clinical experience, Marianne is a Licensed Social Worker with a background in mental health and substance use work. Marianne has a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) certification along with a Certified Clinical Supervisor credential. Marianne’s private practice experience is enhanced by years of working in the hospital system, as well as in family agencies.
Marianne works with individuals 18 and up. She is well-qualified to help clients with anxiety, depression, and life transitions in all forms. She is passionate about working with individuals feeling stuck in their life – whether this is due to employment, marriage, family, or personal goals. Marianne enjoys working alongside the client to support their discovery of barriers to growth, moving toward clarifying goals, setting boundaries, and sustaining real change.
Marianne has particular expertise in helping individuals in the medical field cope with the unique stressors of their working environment. Her training and experience with substance use, addiction, and recovery enhance her treatment of individuals who struggle with this on top of other issues. As a national trainer on topics such as employment stressors, self-care, and coping skills, she is able to help these healthcare workers feel heard, understood, and hopeful.
Marianne’s years of working within hospital systems has enabled her to develop familiarity and expertise in working with the mental health concerns for people with complicated health pictures and/or chronic pain management issues. As your therapist, she can help you take care of your mental health as you navigate and advocate for your physical health.
Dealing with losses in life is something Marianne understands well. Whether you have lost a loved one, an important friendship, or have been given news that changes your future plans, grief can be layered and nuanced. Marianne has a passion for helping clients navigate grief in all forms, but most particularly in areas of adoption and fertility issues and loss.
Clients describe Marianne as straight-forward, interactive, and supportive. Her approach to therapy is person-centered, and she employs a blend of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness practices to create a holistic journey for her clients.
Marianne is married and became a mother through the journey of adoption. Marianne enjoys reading, Michigan summers up north, and canoeing or kayaking. Marianne is a believer in lifelong learning and growing.
